I had 10 cord of fire wood dropped at my house last week. The wood is in 15 to 20' lengths. They have to be cut and split for next winter. Should keep me busy for a week or 2.

That's a lot of heat! Lots of work ahead, but many cozy winters days too. One thing I never had in any house I owned but wish I did...a wood stove. So despite the work I am a bit jealous too!

the old saying, good wood warms you twice, once when you split it and again when you burn it.....

If this is what retirement looks like, I may keep working.

In-between splitting wood today I raised my helm seat up 1.5". This gives us better vision over the bow while seated making those 160 mile runs. Also replaced the old cushion with a much more dense foam.

Ironic that the oil guy burns wood, not oil, in his home. Tells you all you need to know.

Ironic that the oil guy burns wood, not oil, in his home. Tells you all you need to know. Yes sir,, when I keep the stove burning on a cold winter I'll only use about 125 gallons all winter. No stove 200 plus gallons a month.
