And yep prices are still HIGH! Stopped by the Sailfish in water display and they had a 272cc and 31 DC. DC was nice, lots of room and lots of seating. Price was north of $300k. Shockingly the 272 was listed at $300k but for the show it was in the $275k ballpark. Best of all, it was SOLD. I don't think my wife will be asking me again if we should consider buying a new a boat vs repowering when the time comes. I guess people are still buying although I'm seeing lots of inventory and deep price cuts and low intrest rates offers so the market is def slowing down. It was fun, but we didn't walk much of the docks, we were too busy meeting up with friends, talking and enjoying some cold ones before the day just got away from us.

Let the new prices keep going up, it only helps the resale prices for those who do well at maintaining their current boats. Then again, someday it might be nice to buy a new boat, but I don't see it soon.

Without a doubt, everything is more expensive. Some things like boats are leading the pack in price increases. Guess it will level out at some point, but manufacturing costs have gone up a lot too, and based on what's been happening around me, I suspect at some point fiberglass boats will include a tax to remove derelict boats that are abandoned. Hard to believe how expensive it can be to get rid of a fiberglass boat but localities around here have been removing them and have now run out of funds for removal.

14 yrs later i can still sell my boat for more than I paid for it. Who said buying a boat was a bad investment.

As I've said before, "cheaper to keep her". Of course not our wife's. šš

finatic you have no idea how expensive it can be to get an upgrade to the wife. And you thought boating was expensive...wives you don't appreciate, don't depreciate and the payments could be half of everything or more!

I spend most of my winter in Key Largo and I am continuously amazed at how many abandoned/sunk/derelict boats are left all over, especially right up against the mangroves.

Why pay to dispose of it when you can just dump it?!
There needs to be stiffer penalties/fines to include jail time if caught. Make a few offenders an example and then let's see how many are willing to risk their freedom.
The other sad part is, they often leave fuel/oil in these boats that eventually leaks out into water.

I have my Tidewater for sale in the Florida keys for more then I paid for it, on the other hand it has not sold, the owner of the boat yard assures me I should not lower the price.
As for getting rid of boats, about 3 years ago my neighbor had a old 27ā fiberglass sailboat that was well past it's prime. I took my backhoe over and literally pounded it into the dirt, in short order it easily fit in a dumpster. Boats dont take up alot of room as splinters. Plus, I got a lifetime supply of lead and my son bought sinker molds and a small lead pot.
