Took the boat out for a ride today (72 degrees, sunny, low winds - just a great time to be on the water) and the Coast Guard was at the 1st island of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel boarding boats and doing document and safety checks. They told me no one is catching tautog, but lots of people are trying. I was just out to readjust the autopilot after moving the compass and to run line out on the Fin Nor reel I won here, so it will be ready when the fish are biting. Really like the way it handles. Just need the water to warm up so it can start bringing in the fish.

Inspection went fine. Nice bunch of guys. Guess they were out due to the weather too. Never seen them on their small boats this early in the year before. Usually they're in the bigger pilot house boats until the water warms up, but yesterday was just too nice not to enjoy.

Early Boater's always catch the new recruits learning the ins-and-outs of their jobs it's all good. Do everything you're supposed to do to keep safe and their presence is always a good thing to have around

Nice!
It’s funny how when sept rolls around I’m all hunting focused but then when spring hits....boating and fishing is all I care about
