Old thread, but thought I'd post. I am in Beach Haven West and boat in the Manahawkin and Barnegat bay. I mostly drop lines in the bay---wouldn't call it fishing though since I don't catch much, but I always have a good time regardless. I just purchased a 245DC. I've been seeing more and more Sailfish boats out in my area. We do a lot of cruising, watersports and sandbars. We try to explore more of the bay--I'm often surprised by how big it is. Since we now have a boat that can handle more chop, we plan to get into the ocean more often.

Nick - Welcome aboard! keep putting in time and you'll catch more and more fish. Get an old fashioned pencil and pad and write down things, where you caught, the time, type of fish, bait, rig, pole, tide anything else of note and in your down time look at it and notice patterns, it'll be interesting and will help your learning curve. I'm around and out most weekends although this weekend probably won't be. Hial me on 16, 68 or 69, Sailfish Adventure. Good Luck and enjoy.

Thanks footy.I'm planning on going out in the mornings this weekend. We are also having guests in the afternoon and I'm sure they will want to go out. I'm not too sure when the holiday madness will start, but I'm sure it will be crowded on Labor Day.
I am trying to get more serious about fishing. Our old boat was a 21 foot Chaparral H2O. We fished a lot last year in the bay and pulled up a bunch of blowfish, small fluke and sea robbins. I never felt comfortable going up Double Creek, etc in that boat, but I've taken the Sailfish up there exploring everything. I am still learning the boat, but it won't be long until I am able to get on better fishing grounds.
