There is no tube. Water doesn't come in the bottom. The drain is on the bottom side. The inlet is several inches above and comes fro the side. The nozzle has a shut off just seems to be failing. As for seeking its own level, the live wells will simply drain out of the boat entirely through the inlets even if the drains are closed. They won't go below the inlets but that only leaves a few inches of water. If your boat is new, there is a bow to stern 1 yr warranty. I had no idea. I emailed the dealer today. See what the sales guy says.

Tiger, I had the same problem and Im not sure if mine is set up like yours but here is what I did. First for the leaning post live well I had the same problem with water coming in when the valve was off. I never use it as a live well so I took off the black hose fitting inside the live well took it to ace hardware matched it up with a cap then went back to the boat and caped it off completely. problem solved there. On the rear live well mine is set up when it gets full I just reach down inside the live well and turn the black nozzle half turn which closes it off and wont allow water to run back out where it was coming in filling it. Then turn baitwell switch off at helm. Mine then will not drain water back out. Gatorman- Brilliant! Its so strange that it leaks. I didn't know I could cap it off in there. That is a great solution. It didn't occur to me to reach in there and turn it off to prevent it from running back out. I must say when running that's a bit of a pain but it's doable. I figured it would have a check valve the was malfunctioning and someone would tell me where it was.

Tiger, Yeah it worked for me... I will say that the rear live well will leak a little water out at the bottom drain so I have to fill it back up every hour or so. When I'm running I open back up that valve in the live well as the pick up under the boat will filter in fresh water keeping the bait alive. But when I stop I turn the valve back off so the water doesn't drain out. Hope this helps. Gatorman-

I took the boat in for warranty work and this was on my list. Sailfish told my dealer this is normal, the valve isn't meant to prevent water from getting in and the live well is not for dry storage.
