I am planning on replacing my Yamaha primer bulbs, which are currently located in the motor splash well. They are starting to show signs of cracking. Not sure how old they are. Don’t want them to fail while using the boat.
I was thinking of moving them into the bilge area, next to the 10 micron filters. My thoughts are that they will be away from UV light, which might prolong their life. On the other hand, they might get exposed to more heat in the bilge. Thoughts?

Mine is factory installed in the bilge next to the filter.

I think it's a good idea. I'd have to bet that the bulb itself would be cooler to the touch in the bilge than it would be absorbing all that sunlight when it's sitting in the splash well.

That's a great idea.

Mine is in the bilge Next to the water separator and it seams to work good there with easy access. Rag’s
