Hello all,
Anyone have a 290 with the Merc 200's? Certainly seems underpowered. I cant seem to find any performance numbers for those motors. I want to take a look at one in my area but would like performance numbers so not to waste my time,
Thanks

I don't know if it's the same 290 sailfish but there was one with twin 200 and it may have been Yamahas and my first thought was very underpowered but I could be wrong. It caught my eye because it was a newer boat and thousands below the market price of all the other 29s 9 It may be similar to the guys with 23 60s with twin 115 as opposed to the twin 150s. The little older year 2860 s came with twin 250's and they do a fine job. In my opinion the 200 on a 29 would move that boat along but when you're loaded up with gear fuel ice and four or five guys it's going to be a little bit of a slow ride.

That boat needs 250's minimum. 300's would be awesome

It would work, but needs more horses.

That's what I am afraid of, it looks like a nice boat but I would always want more horsepower. I have a 2360 with the F115's and its a great boat but I always wish it had the 150's or 200's. It looks like cruise is around 28 mph at 4300 and tops 40 and that's what I do now. If I can steal it then maybe it could work for a couple years then throw some 300's on it.

That sounds like a good plan. With 250’s on mine, at 4300 I’m seeing about 38 mph. Tops out at 55.
