My 2002 236 has the original fuel lines and pump since day 1 I’m having an issue w the boat losing rpm and then :30s or so later it comes back up , then repeating. I’m thinking I should change the lines and pump before taking it in to see if that’s the issue. Also the o2 sensor (been a few years for that) I think should be done.
Motor is an Yamaha 225 ox66 saltwater series 2 stroke Thoughts on the project?
Tips on what type line to use/purchase? How much length to purchase?
Tips on the activities themselves?
O2 sensor a DIY project (I’m handy and used to wrench for a motorcycle shop decades ago)?

I'm not sure fuel line would cause the issue you are experiencing here. But if you want to change them to rule them out, then you must use the TYPE A1-15 fuel/vent hose. You can find it as WM, Defender, etc. You will have to check your diameter, I think mine is 3/8.
The symptoms of your issue does seem fuel related, but you have to find the root cause. You could have a small air leak, or you could be dealing with wet fuel. I would change all filters and check all fittings in the fuel system. Then I would try some heat/fresh fuel. Also, look at your primer bulb and check your tank vent for spider webs. I would look at these things before throwing parts at it.

Don’t know that engine, but on my duck boat I was having a fuel issue, ran it on muffs with cowling off watching the fuel filter where fuel initially feeds into engine. Has a clear bowl. Could watch it run dry at anything over idle rpm, so problem was upstream of there. Had a bad fuel line connection that was sucking air. Just a thought.

Only thing that I don’t get is why it takes continuous running for 20 min at a constant speed over 32 before it kicks in. I can run 45, 40, etc for 5-10 min. Change speed, up down etc, but constant speed over 32...20 minutes. Boom. Kicks in. We’ll get it worked out.
