Looking at a OB for my flatback canoe.
There is a 2s Tohatsu 5hp (older) Or a early 2000 Yamaha 4s
Comparable pricing
Those tohatsus run for ages. Don’t know much about those yamis but I’ve always been partial to the brand [
The mercury is an older 2s and it is cheaper. But I know squat about Mercury’s

I ran an older Yamaha 4stroke on my duck boat for years. I abused that sucker to no end and it is still going strong today. My buddy had constant trouble with his merc. I know nothing about tahatsu.

I’m leaning yamha too. Anyone can rebuild them if needed Solid motor and name.
Wonder what that 1hp less will do

I have a 4hp Yamaha 2 stroke on a dingy. It's 30years old. No clue how many hours on it. Change the oils, one filter, and 1 spark plug every 2 years, and the thing is still going strong. Changed the dingy twice already, but the engine is still the same.

Def dig the 2s yamis.
Haven’t any experience with an older 4s though But still...it’s a Yamaha
