Good Evening,
Does anyone have one in use on a single ob? I have had mine for three years now and I don't have any issues but for one. The thing works so well if I am up on plane or idling - like trolling or slower. The issue is that if the boat is not up on plane, say 3500 - 4000 rpms and in a seaway it just won't hold. Unless its pretty calm when I am up on plane. 10 -15 kts of breeze and a few feet of chop on top of a small swell and I am steering and standing and bitching....lol. I haven't messed with the limited settings because every time I am out I am trying to get somewhere and just don't want to mess with it. From my memory I think the way it is now it is set for a "fast turn" power boat and hard over time is like 10 - 12 seconds? can't remember and I can't check right now because I'm on a piece of steel wrapped in rubber.
Any thoughts will be welcomed. Hope everyone is having an awesome summer so far chris

I had an EVO on my Robalo and I found I had a choice. I could set it up for trolling and it would work great, but when going at speeds it would get knocked by waves and eventually do like a sudden hard 90 degree turn to try and correct course and then do wild swings back and forth until it would get settled in for a while. Or, I could set it for speed but then trolling wouldn't be good. I found with a lot of effort I could get it to troll good and do cruising good except in heavy seas, but not handle speed well at all. I settled for that.
I put a Simrad on my 245DC and it was rough to get adjusted, but I've got it fairly well locked in now and it does good under most conditions and speeds and great at trolling. I think I could have gotten the same out of the EVO if I'd worked with it more, but the EVO was frustrating to adjust. Spent lots of time changing the hard over and I know I wasn't set up as a fast turn power boat in the end, but I don't remember what I ended up with. I do know having the compass in the right place (away from magnet or electronics) is important.

Thanks Hooked, I guess I'll just mess with it when I can, maybe go through the dockside set up again. The hard over time isnt even close to what the instructions say it should be by the procedure to get that time. Anyway thanks for the insight. Have an awesome weekend!
