Technically I think it’s deutsch connector.

At least pull it apart and look for corrosion. I’ve had several things that weren’t working, start to work when I cut that connector out and replaced with butt connectors to include a wash down pump and a bilge pump. Pump works or at least it did. It was squeaking and sounded rough. It's done...

Got the same problem with my freshwater pump. I used to be able to tap on the pump and it would work but now no go. I think it crapped out but will check the douch bag connection first before I order a new pump. Prolly will replace both of them as they are original and have a date on them of 8-07. Almost 12 years old. Not bad. Will be using the same pump for the reason abouttime2fish did.

I suspect my freshwater is on borrowed time as well.

I don't think its about age as much as how much you use it vs how well its made. If you used it daily, several times a day and get 10 years out of it, it served you well. If you used it 2 or 3 times a day every 2-3 months then it should last.a lifetime if it is any good.

I just replaced mine this weekend also. I changed them both out because I figured the salt water washdown wasn't far behind from crapping out either. Mine had a mfg. date from 07. Not to bad of a job but now I won't have to get in there again for a long time I hope.

Then there's the dreaded bilge pumps....

I’ll tell you one thing. I had my original pumps forever. The second and third sets. Not so well The cases on them corroded so much quicker. When I replace I may coat them with corrosionx

Spraying everything and cleaning with soap and bleach below deck should be and is a common practice on my boat. Nice you got your pump going again.

Glad it was an easy fix. My fresh water pump looks about the same. I think the sticker is the only thing holding it together. On a side note my bait well pump is dead and it looks the best. Where did you buy the new pump from? Rag’s Attachments:
