The problem is a easy fix. Just don't know what the part is called to order it. The red out put cable is missing the two locking nuts with rubber washer to keep the cable attached to the unit. Any thoughts... A.P.B.for Capt.Ron....lol Attachment Deleted

I think this is what you want to order, an all new power cable with the O-ring and locking collar. Whatever you order make sure it comes with the locking ring. I checked Amazon and they do show 2-pin harnesses without the locking ring and you don't want that. buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/pn/010-10922-00

I may have the nut and locking ring left over from my 4212. I will check when I get home. If I do, it’s yours.

I even have an extra cable. But neither have the locking nut and ring. I think maybe when Chris took it off his boat it stayed on the cables that he was able to reuse on his new unit.

Fin, the photo in the link does have the locking ring, it is the one you need. Outtadblue, make sure the locking ring you have is not the one that was usually included that was for the marine RJ-45 (18mm), that's too large for fin's purposes. I've not seen a locking ring from Garmin that fits the power plug, so if you have one that's good to know that they are available.

I have some stuff, but not sure what. I let the power cables go with the old 4212’s when I sold them, but I think I have the old cables also.

Sorry I looked fast earlier while doing stuff at home, I can see the difference from what I have on mine now. Hay Ron do you think Garmin sells the locking nut and O ring that would connect that cable to the unit. Or would I need to order the new cable if Richards is no good. You know me and wiring I'd rather not have to swap things around. Either way I has to be fixed I can't have the unit shut down again, that's not safe. What if I put a drop of epoxy on it and plugged it in, any thing to keep away from that wiring.

To my knowledge the locking ring for the power cable was never offered as a part. The locking ring for the Ethernet cable was offered because you had a large connector on both ends making it impossible to route on some boats. Your power cord however doesn't have this problem, which is why I don't think it's available. I don't know of anyone who has ever epoxied the power connector in place, but other than not being able to easily replace the cable if you had to I don't see why you can't.

Thanks Ron, makes sense why it's not available. It would have to be female to tread thread onto the red end and male to receive the cable end with the O ring between.

I don't know Glen, it must have been that way when I had it installed. My installer ran all new power cables when he installed my old unit, there was nothing left behind. I'll check to see what I have laying around in my bag of cables such....

Unless the pin holes are different, I don't see why that cable wouldn't work. It also seems to have that spinning cap to thread onto the red power receptacle. Might be worth a shot Glen.

Thanks Chris, really not a big deal Richard found one an extra one from a 7612 he sent it out to me if it works great if not I'll just put a dab of silicone on the top of it. It should keep it from coming out again. I can also secure it with a few small zip ties. I was just happy to know that it was just a plug that came out and not the unit itself. I was all ready to go shopping for a big brand new unit. I will say this this hundred forty mile trip this past weekend gave me a reason to seriously look into putting the autopilot on the boat.

AP in action on a 45 mile run with me sitting back and taking video! It's awesome.
