Was doing some anchor rode maintenance today. Previous owner had a few different rodes knotted together. 1/2 " 3/8" both 3 strand nylon and about 50 ' of braid. I spliced the 3 strand together and as a temporary fix knotted the 3 strand to the braid. I will in the future get some more 3 strand nylon and splice it in and replace the braid. In going through this I found a lot of dirt in the anchor locker. So I a get the hose and start spraying. Now all I have is mud. So I am thinking the drain must be clogged. Searching with my hand I am not finding a drain. Tried a screwdriver, still no drain. However there is an access plate. I pop it open and start spraying again. Get it all cleaned out and look. There is NO drain in the locker. Makes no sense to me. What do you all do to drain the locker? The only thing that i can think of is to drill a hole in the bottom of it and let it drain to the bilge. The water that I sprayed after removing the access plate went to the bilge. But the bottom of the access is about 3 inches above the bottom of the locker.

My anchor locker has a drain. There is a clam shell stainless fitting on my hull, starboard side near my bow catch eye.

I have the same clam shell also. But where is the drain inside the locker? I just can't locate it. It must be there somewhere.

I will do that tomorrow. But I am trying to find where the drain is located in the locker.

Just thought of this. I need to look into the track that the hatch fits into. Possibly the the water is supposed to drain before it gets to the locker.

I will do that tomorrow. But I am trying to find where the drain is located in the locker. If you run a long enough piece you should see it come up through and inside the locker.

Just thought of this. I need to look into the track that the hatch fits into. Possibly the the water is supposed to drain before it gets to the locker. My hatch has a hole/notch large enough for the chain to come out through so that I can close my hatch while anchored. That hole/notch allows for lots of water into my anchor locker. I assume your hatch is similar.

If I use my anchor I spray down into that locker. And it comes out that clam shell. Had a buddy knock that clamshell off his 2860 and it was not attached to anything on the inside, ie hoses.

There is a small hole behind the clam shell. I’m thinking about 1/4 inch. It’s not big and it take some time to drain. I also wash my anchor off after using and the water comes out the clam shell. As fishnfool said, run a foot long piece of mono from the outside.
