I thought the results were a typo, then reading through the article only confirmed them to be true. Horrible cruise mpg's of 1 mpg and a top of end of only 41 mph! Very disappointing performance numbers and I think a poor decision on their part to not only rig this boat with F150's, but to actually give Boat Test a boat rigged with this power and advertise such horrible performance numbers. Naturally the more doodads SF adds to the boats the heavier they get eg glass windshield, dive door etc. F150s should be outlawed on this hull. boattest.com/boat/sailfish/272-cc-2021

Something has to be wrong with that Boat Test result.
My guess is the dummy didnt trim up the motors.

Agree fishnfool those numbers have to be off as I saw 45-47mph on my 2660 light trimmed out. They had to have the engines all the way down and bow buried. I also think that the new 27 needs to have 200's as a base line with the option of 225's or 250's whether Merc or Yamaha.

What a pig, I wouldn't even want it. If I chose to travel at that slow speed with that poor fuel consumption it would be in a bigger Downeaster Style where I could be real comfortable

I cant believe SF let them publish that! Lol

They need to hang a pair of 300 Mercury there not much more heavier than the Yamaha 150s. Now your talking about some real #s

Now your talking about some real #s I couldn't agree more those new 300 Mercs are insane with mid range torque and run on 87 pump gas. Also the mid range cruise would be in the 40's with and impressive MPG. Top end would be high 60's which would be nice when you want to let them eat. I rode on a 27 CC different hull with Merc 300's and was blown away by them. I have always been a Yamaha guy but the new Mercs are pulling away with the outboard market. Look at the FLIBS 95 percent of the new CC boats are hung with Mercs, that says something.

When seas see calm if I run at 5100 rpms I'm cruising at 42 mph still getting 1.6 mpg. But sea hardly ever give you that opportunity. Only one trip this past season I was able to run like that. But makes a HUGE difference traveling over 40 getting to and coming home from the fishing grounds there's nothing like it.

But makes a HUGE difference traveling over 40 getting to and coming home from the fishing grounds there's nothing like it. I'd love to be able to run at speed out to the Gulf Stream, but it's 80 miles out! If I run out at cruise I have enough fuel for trolling about 5-6 hours, the run back, and a little left in the tank for any emergencies. If I ran WOT I might not have enough fuel to make it back.
Rarely is the ocean kind enough to allow running at WOT for any length of time anyway, so fuel burn has never been a concern. I do try and get the boat to WOT for a bit each trip, but that is usually done near the Little Creek harbor up until we get close to the Navy harbor protection boat. I don't like it when they point the 50 cal at me, so I make sure to slow down before getting too close.

All this numbers talk here's why I love the 150's on a 2360. Went Tog fishing this morning 18" to 22" It was 21 degrees this morning the boat was like a block of ice from all the snow yesterday so I had full curtains and wings on running these speeds. 3 guys 70 gallons fuel 1ft chop against the tide. 5300 rpms 45 mph at 1.7 gpm. W.O.T. 5900 rpms 52 mph 1.5 gpm. 31 gallons an hour. This was the first time in 8yrs I ran WOT. Only for about 60 seconds. Crazy the only thing in the water at that speed is the props. Lol
