I don't understand the fairly extreme variations in gas prices. I know Brandon has tried to eliminate the industry altogether, but some of the price changes don't seem to be associated with the political issues. Here the prices have gone up about 40 cents in the last month at local service stations. Maybe they're adjusting for the summer blend?
Every time I see the prices I long for the gas wars when I was carrying my 5 gallon tank to the gas station. 15 cents a gallon. If I'd been old enough to drive, I could have gone to Ocean View and the radio said they were selling it at 5 cents a gallon. By the time I was driving it was up to 32 cents a gallon and there weren't any gas wars anymore to drive the price down.
I suspect 99% of the forum users have never heard of gas wars. The supply was greater than the demand and stations cut their prices just to sell enough to pay their rent. Rent for the station back then was about 4 cents a gallon, but you had to sell a lot of gas. The "wars" didn't last long, but it was great while it lasted.

Yup April 1st the summer blend comes out and is always higher cost. Also, it's not a pure market (see my prior comments on the impact of the governmental loosening and refilling the strategic reserves which can have a big impact (mentally for the market if nothing else).
Sadly I can remember some of those gas wars, but way too vaguely!

Summer blend, winter blend a bunch of bullshit just to mess with pricing. Sadly I think it's going to be another painful time every time we fuel our boats.

We're eating fresh tuna right now caught by my son-in-law caught in North Carolina so regardless of the price of gas...Life is good!
Since I remember carrying The 5 gallon gas tank from the boat to the gas station and then back to the boat, I remember just how many steps were involved and how much trouble it was to hoist the tank into the boat (I was 11). Also remember catching fish and pulling my crab pots up and selling the crab meat to local neighbors to pay for more gas. Charged $1.25 for cooked crab meat back then and remember how much trouble I got in for cooking the crabs in the house in beer and my mom having to get all the drapes dry cleaned to get the smell of beer and crabs out of them. Made me cook them on the grill outside after that.
Can't imagine kids today doing that, but I hope there are some. Good times.

Took the boat out for the first time last Thursday. Couldn't help to notice fuel on the water was $4.64 per gallon, not looking good.
