Has anyone had to replace their thru hull transducer? Mine crapped out on me and need to remove the old one. Hauled the boat this am since we have a few days of bad weather. Also doing 100 hr service. Little tight in the bilge area. It's a 2015 240. I have the Airmar B75M Thru hull transducer. There is a nut on top that needs to come off. Then hopefully it was not installed with 5200.
May remove the bilge pump to free up some space in there to get to the nut. Getting leverage on it to remove is going to be tough. Hoping I don't need to move the freshwater tank. Whether that is even an option or not I don't know.

That sucks. Are you 100% sure it’s the transducer? Mfds can be so picky...low voltage, bad cables, etc.
If it is sealed with 5200 or 4200, I know they sell cans of debond to loosen it up.

was hoping it was anything but the transducer. Bought a new one and hung over side to test. Everything worked. Just took my 1st attempt to get at it and no luck. They sell a special wrench for the transducer nut I am about to order. May have to get something to soak the sealant too. Just not sure how I am going to get any leverage in there.

I'm about to do the opposite and install a B175.
Last time I did a bunch of bilge work on my 2360, I filled the splash well with blankets so I could lay flat across (mainly from the swim ladder side of the transom) and reach my down inside the starboard deck plate hole. It still sucked but that was the best position I found to get down in there.

When I did my B175 I used 4200 per mfg recommendations. The nut shouldn't be on very tight but getting to it will be a pain. Good luck.

When I upgraded my electronics on my 2660 a few years ago we left the old transducer in place and cut a new hole for the new one.

When I upgraded my electronics on my 2660 a few years ago we left the old transducer in place and cut a new hole for the new one. I think that's what I would probably have to do. I not only used 5200 but I also faired it in with Awlgrip fairing compound since I didn't like the big lip that it left on the bottom. I'm not sure how I could removed it without making a huge mess.

Ordered some of the un-hesive. Wrench will be here Thursday. I used to have the ski pole, which I removed last year in order to replace the bilge pump and never put it back in. The lower bracket is still there. I think if I remove that I can lie on my stomach and work my way into the bilge. I will soon find out...

Well that sucked. A few bruises and quite a bit of swearing later it is out.

Couple small chips in gelcoat around edge on outside. Tough to tell if they were already there or not. Everything is sanded down smooth. The couple spots will be covered by the flange and sealed with the new transducer. If the spots are smooth and clean is it worth touching them up with anything or leave as is?

You have a hole in your boat!!!
I would leave it. You will have sealant around the inside and outside of the transducer. You should be good to go.
