So I made some squid templets to paint onto the bottom of my boat. Black bottom with white squid. Just tape and one pass of the roller and do it over and over. Photos to follow mid week.

Do those even work? I've always thought fish were just attracted to the commotion that a boat makes while trolling, but I've heard stories about the color or shape of under-hull art adding to the catch...makes me wonder. I also spray elephant-B-gone around my house and I've never had any pesky elephants around, so that stuff works pretty well so maybe there is something to a squid design on the hull......

There's a lot a data from commercial fleets with several boats. So claims say 22 to 30% higher catch rates over the boats without. So it certainly can't hurt unless a whale mistakes us fot a quick lunch.

I know that the bigger boats with a larger spread catch more fish, but never heard anything about them being attracted to artwork. Interested in the outcome.

Hahaha Speaking of adding to the spread, I picked up few of those rattle lures you recommended last year. Going to give them a try this July. I hope the recovery is going well! |

Several of the big sport fishing boats around here has the bottom painted with tuna, ballyhoo, or squid. Not sure how good it works but they all do it. Can’t wait to see you finished product.
