Okay, I'll try to get us to 10. Added a bait board I made with starboard and attached using V-lock so I can remove it when doing a family cruise. Hey, do I get extra points for cute granddaughter catching fish?

Hey...another v-lock user. Lets see how you mounted the v-lock base.

I couldn't get a plate or washers and nuts underneath it. As I've sadly found out removing the pull down seat assembly on a 245DC is darn near impossible and would almost assuredly never go back in correctly. So, I used 1/4 inch tapered screws and drilled just enough to get the screws to catch properly and then overdrilled the gelcoat so as not to crack it. Filled it with epoxy before putting in the screws (not 5200 - just in case I ever need to remove it). I'd rather have a backing plate, but my compromise solution has held well so far, and that board has gotten banged around pretty good.
I also went with the starboard base instead of aluminum. The finish on the aluminum v-lock base doesn't hold up well in saltwater and after about a year or two on another boat I had to remove them, then remove the finish and clean them up with corrosion-X. They looked okay after a lot of work, but I decided I'd use the aluminum insert and starboard base from now on.

Attachment DeletedFinally swapped out my old Clarion for the newest model. Unfortunately the old hole was too big. I cut a new Starboard backer plate, routed and painted it to match the gelcoat. It solved my problem with the old radio discharging the batteries from the memory wire. Nice,,, Your # 003....003....003

Maybe, if we don't get enough projects, we could go back another year or two. I'm sure we've all got lots of cool little projects that would be of interest. I've got a few more but seems like they're mostly from 2017 or earlier.

Attachment Deletedi'll start at the bow , the friction hinges. Sailfish didn't do you any favors with the old hinges. I had to fill in 9 of the 12 holes, and start over on the placement. Well worth the effort though. Here's number 005

Does replacing the low pressure fuel pump three times, cleaning the VST tank twice, replacing all fuel filters 3+ times, flushing out and cleaning the fuel tank and pulling the injectors to have them cleaned count? Oh wait....that definitely didn't stay under $500............ Damn them early model F-225. That sounds like me last year except pulling the injectors out for service. Rag’s

Oh wait....that definitely didn't stay under $500............ Damn them early model F-225. That sounds like me last year except pulling the injectors out for service. Rag’s I was definitely cursing the the grey motor.....once it was all said and done it was a batch of bad gas from right before the hurricane. Ended up with a bunch of fine sand in the tank and it would get past the filters and clog the pump and cause it to burn up. The stuff made it all the way to the injectors. Ended up having to clean the whole fuel system from tank to injectors. And to stay on topic here is another project. I recently added a third battery. A single house battery just couldn't keep up so i used the original dual battery tray on the stbd side for two house batteries and added a new battery tray on the port side next to the water tank. New starting battery tray Mikey,,, I got you in twice Attachment DeletedDual house battery tray. This is before i got the new battery and got the house batteries connected together. Heres how to win. Using abouttime2fish's idea this is what to do. Were looking for projects, or upgrades you did to your boat this year 2017 until Xmas day. The projects have to be under a budget of $500. You MUST post photos of your project, no photos, no entry. Were not going to pick the coolest upgrade to difficult. The more upgrades you post the more chances you have to win. Were going to put everyone's name who posted into a bowl and pick the winner Xmas day. So lets share your boat upgrades and pass your ideas over to other Sailfish owners. This is a nice reel that anyone of could use. Good luck, and post um up. Did you mean to say 'this year 2017'? Are we including 2017 projects or just 2018 projects? Just 2018, my mistake. Here is my first entry: Re-caulked the coming boards with black caulk. your #002

Almost forgot this one until yesterday in the cold. The 245DC air dam door kept popping open at speed. Added 1/4 inch Plexiglas 'washer' under the latch to keep it from opening.

Sometimes it’s just the little things that make the most difference.
