I took the box Sailfish sent me to the boat today (I'd already picked up the needed screws and I have extra clamps just in case). It will probably be a few more weeks before I'll be ready to attempt any work, and now I'll start with removal of the hose from the thru hull. I do have another plate access where I put the autopilot Tees and maybe I'll get lucky and be able to get access from there. Let you know.

I took a look at the owner's manual and realized I have more questions before I even get started. Sent this to Aaron, but if anyone knows the answer I'd appreciate it:
Aaron, I had rotator cuff surgery and it put off installing the hose and plate, but I do have a question based on the owner's manual diagram for water drainage. It appears from the diagram the head sink and galley sink also exit via the same thru hull as the center storage drain. How is that connection made and will doing this just dump the sink water into the bilge?
I rarely use the sinks so that wouldn't be an issue, but before I go in to replace via the instructions I want to make sure I'm not going to create a serious problem. The instructions don't cover the sinks at all.
Guess I should add those sinks take forever to drain just like the center storage. After taking the boat out yesterday the fresh water stunk after sitting for months and I went to drain it all out. I did the galley first, then ran water out the aft shower hose. Fully drained, then refilled the tank, drained again via the shower hose, refilled, then washed the boat and went to leave the boat....The galley sink had not drained at all.
Maybe it will make sense once I see how things are connected, but I'd appreciate getting an answer ahead of time if possible.

I just checked and can confirm that the sink drains thru that thru hull fitting. I purcahsed a 9 x 10 box and will put another hole in perfectly good fiberglass. But you can never have enough storage and the larger opening will (should) allow to bypass the crushed section annd install a T. Might be doing it this weekend. Would not be possible thru the speaker hole.

When you can please post a pic or diagram of where you cut out the box. Would it possibly affect the deck strength near the captains chair?

good question. I'm going to put in the gunnel, its 2 1/2" deep, I would not cut the deck. When the boat was sitting for a while this spring, I put 1 cup of bleach in the deck storage compartment, it kept the sitting water in better condtion.

I dont mean gunnel I mean the inside hull between the gunnel and deck, . Dumb for me to say gunnel.

I dont mean gunnel I mean the inside hull between the gunnel and deck, . Dumb for me to say gunnel. Aaron' reply is what I expected: The two hoses are connected with a "T" fitting. I think this is what the new hose should be connected to. I guess if you didn't want to, that would be fine. Yes if the "T" fitting isn't capped off then the sink would drain into the bilge and be expelled that way. Thanks, Aaron So, my guess the T fitting is before the crimp in the hose and the hose that needs replacing is between the T and the thru hull. I never could see a T when checking under the deck with the endoscope and I suspect that its in the area that isn't easy to see or access. Hoping you can tell us where to look for it.
Obvious Sailfish didn't build this right, nor QC it at all. I really like so much about the boat, but not this.

Richard, I described the T fitting and the kink I had to my sink drain on my 275 DC earlier in this post. I'm fairly certain the implementation of the drains is similar in various boat models, and with that in mind I would be hesitant to say to let the sink drain into the bilge because unless you can close off the connections to the T that otherwise have hoses connected (and which are pinched or kinked now) then there is a good chance there is a pathway for water outside the boat to make its way through the through-hull and into the T and then into the bilge, creating a potential flood hazard.
There is no anti-siphon loop in mine, and the through-hull gets low enough to let water in (quite a ways, but still a risk if you have another issue going on), you would potentially sink the boat rather quickly I think.
From what I can gather looking at the photos, the locker drain pinch is fairly close to the locker drain and well before you get to the T, and the sink kink also is before the T is my guess as it was that on my boat...and the 3rd connection from the T to the through-hull is likely a fairly short hose (on mine it was like 6-12 inches only between through hull and the T).

Thanks. I'd never have a thru hull open to the bilge. It is several inches above normal waterline, but you're right, it could get serious quick.
I'm hoping the hose between the T and the thru hull is accessible and possible to replace without destroying too much. Sad that so many 245DCs have this problem. I'm really hoping I can fix it.

I'm going to be tackling this within the next week or so. I will take pictures and post results. If I can access the thru hull, install 2nd addtional T, bypass kink with new line to New T, all should work. I have all the parts, including my sawzall, just waitng for the courage and the time.

I corrected the issue with the drain, however in the process I discovered, that likely, no drain of that configuration ever worked properly on sailfish or any other boat, regardless of the line being pinched or not. As the drain line is limited in size and runs horizontal, then a minimum drop to the thru hull fitting, which causes a venting issue. A brief 1 min. 20 second video shows the whole deal. I also note that wires and lines are everywhere back there, so no one should ever use a jigsaw to cut thru sides, A couple of multi cable stack would go along way to a neater install. I used a ‘T’ I had in my shop, there are certainly more elegant t’s available or other fittings available. Typical would be a anti siphon valve, I see them in 3/8” size couldn’t find any in ¾” but somebody makes them. Video was made to watch on phone in vertical position, but of course will work on any device. www.dropbox.com/s/vc2wwlkvi22kxij/Sailfish%20245DC%20ski%20locker%20drain%20fix.mp4?dl=0

Nice job Dave! The added vent is a great idea and not one I would have stumbled upon myself...where did you find the vent or was that the T you had in your shop? I couldn't tell if the T you added from your shop was the vent T. or the one that was close to the through-hull that also connected to the sink. Either way, an impressive fix and you should submit your bill to Sailfish for the work!

X2 on the bill, but doubt they'll see it as valid. I'd be working on this after seeing the video, but today already planned and from now through the weekend is rain. Try to get to it soon. Better slow drain than my current no drain. Took clorox to everything yesterday to try and get rid of the mold and mildew, but since it won't drain I had to thoroughly wash everything off to get rid of the clorox.

Used brass t in concealed space. Used 3/4× 1" x 3/4" lawn sprinkler t in locker.
I sent to sailfish, they are having a engineer review.
