I just got off the gator hunt. I take the boy to MI in a few weeks for his youth hunt Then very soon FL hunting starts. So far I’ve struck out( 0-14) on state land draws but we still have the property in Gadsden County and a buddy offered his place 75 miles north of here. Anyone else hunt? Huge Bow hunter here. Where in Michigan do you go? I'm north of Ann Arbor on some land and also hunt near Alpena. If you need anything while you're up here, let me know. I'm 45 minutes from DTW as well. I'm just starting to get my boys into actual hunting. They have helped me track, spot, scout, prep, etc since I could carry them. The oldest is just starting to get into the spirit of the actual hunt. He tracked this guy for me last fall. Truthfully I had already tracked him, then I went and got the boys and we started at the stand and had him lead out from there. Great experience for bot father and son IMO. I primarily hunt FL archery on public land, rifle in FL/MI Small ‘town’ called Sumner. Family land. It’s where I started as a boy. Flying out a week from today for the youth hunt. Good deal getting yours started young as well. I started mine with a pop up blind and about :45 min sits around age 6/7. He’s 12 now. This will be his 4th season with his .243 Amazing how the patience grows (helps to see deer too. Thank to MI having the early youth season it’s hooked him big time) He already has better deer than me. And it makes me so damn proud of him. Heck I don’t even care if I kill anything anymore. I let him brag about him filling our freezer and feeding the family lol Good luck this season!!!

I have no idea how to embed a FB video on this forum. hopefully the link atleast works. This is from a 3-4 year old clover field, which needs to be plowed under next spring, sprayed then reseeded. Its a special part of the property I cleared almost 5 years ago, which has 2 active creeks flowing around the field and is less than 100 yards from one of the best oak ridges (acorns) on the property. To the west is a swamp which makes for great sunsets and great late light shooting. It also makes for a great transition plot for deer traveling through. The bucks are still in bachelor groups but the sparring (for fun) has been going on for a couple weeks. Scrapes are everywhere and all velvet is dropped. 6 more days. I'm stoked! www.facebook.com/BillBridge/videos/vb.781209746/10157694282234747/?type=3
