Got 1 woody opening day and 8 teal the following weekend of the early teal season here.
With the temps finally starting to drop (at least to the low and mid-80's), I'm working to get Cooper better conditioned and ready for our South Dakota pheasant trip the first week of November.
It's almost impossible to get the local geese out of the subdivisions. I wish we had more ducks locally, but they seemed to be short-stopping farther north the past few years.

Well this was only 75 max, but....
We watched this deer meander in for about 30 min. I could have taken him many times over with my .308, but my son was carrying a .410 with buckshot. Got hung up there at 75 yds and started going away to our right into some low brush. That’s when I asked him. You want me to take him or do you want to try the .308? He chose the .308 which he had never shot. With a scope which is something he’s never used. Fortunately we had a rest because he had to hold for probably 5-10 min before we got a shot opportunity. I think I was shaking as much as he was by the time he took the shot! Guess Santa needs to bring another rifle!
Only a spike but I’m getting a shoulder mount for him. I don’t think he will forget this one! And Grampa was close by on another stand and came over after deer was down so we had 3 generations there, pretty special moment. I do t think he will forget this one, I sure won’t!

Great story. I had my dad and grandpa with me on my first deer. He will never forget it.
