Attachment DeletedYes the clock does work. We recently had to put our 130 lb. American Bulldog down. 13 Years old but to a point where he wasn't going to get better he looked like he was in pain so you got to do it as sad as it is. My wife and son are already breaking my balls for another dog but I'm really enjoying the lack of mess and freedom they make. Good luck with the pup. The first six to eight months this crucial to having a great dog. Training must be consistent throughout your family. If you willing to put the time in now it will truly pay off later.

It will. Usually takes a week or two to settle in. I found that you can put a clock that ticks in her kennel or bet that it helps. It mimics the beat of the mothers heart and calms them down. Do they still make ticking clocks? we might try that if she doesn't get better. Last night she slept for a good 4 hrs before being taken out to potty at340 am Pups cannot hold their urine very long it's crucial to take them out every 2 to 3 hours. As you take her out when she's urinating pick a word and keep saying it over and over while urinating. If you do that when she's older and you say that word she will always walk to the door that you let her out of to go to the bathroom . don't ever do the newspaper in the house and allow him or her to piss in the house.

Good lookin pooch Glen! That is a good run for a dog that size! Sorry to hear, a very tough decision even when it's in the dogs best interest. I might have told you we put our lab down last year, 17 yrs old. His mind was still there but his body gave out, had some underlying ailmates.

Her word is potty, she goes EVERY time we take her out now. She's had less than a handful accidents in the house. She hasnt gone in her crate either. House training seems to be going well at this point. The hardest part is getting all the kids on the consistency band wagon when trying to correct her biting. She wants to bite and chew everything including hands and feet and shes just too young to know better. Kids are starting to get it though, they've been great.

Sounds like some good chaos with the new puppy in the house. Its all good stuff. We have to watch her like a hawk. Actually found that keeping a long lead on her in the house for right now is a good thing. She stays in eye shot and gets used to having a collar and lead on. She is crazy smart

My lab is going on 14 and is headed down hill. I’m afraid it won’t be long until I have to make a hard decision. I would love another dog to train but I think I might wait a while.

I hear you I cried like a baby when we put our dog down really sucks. training another you have to be all in for like 6 or 8 months. It's a lot of work,, like yourself I need to take a brake for a while. Definitely not something I would take on in the winter.

Good looking ducks and dogs.
I’ve been absent for a month.
We hunted the Gadsen county property for 5 days over New Years. NO deer. At alll. Very bizarre. End of December usually is chasing and we just saw squat.
I’ve applied a total of 47 quota draws so far and I’m 0-47 Only a few more weeks of chances (if anyone even returns them) on state land. Otherwise, the good start to the year may be over soon

It was a long but rewarding deer season here in MI. I took a 9 point, 8 point, anterless buck and a doe. It feels great to provide enough meat for another year and help stock my parents freezer as well. Got my 2 boys involved in the tracking of the 9 too. I even got the green light to buy the bow of my dreams, a Prime Logic. So I switched from Hoyt to Prime mid season which meant a LOT of practice time spent behind the barn while I wasnt in a tree. 266 days left till opener. Prep has already started Attachments:

Nice deer, good year, I’m with you on best time to scout and prep is next couple months. I'll be spending this weekend in a tree. Scouting patterns and calling in coyotes. Now is prime time to take coyotes off properties. They are in early mating so covering a lot of ground, they will replies to calls nearly all day, even mid day. I have 2 mature and 2 pups running my creeks every morning. I'm hoping to at least cut that number to 2 before its fawn season.
