Maybe no one has started yet. For me early on I take care of any motor maintenance fluids, spark plugs, Thermastats, anodes, batteries when that's complete then I'll detail, Pro cut 1000 on any areas in need, ceramic coat everything paint the bottom then start fishing.

Seeing how I did my water pump and impellers and poppet valves last year, i have a pretty light lift this year.
Upper and lower oils done. Trim tabs and motor bracket bottom painted, zincs replaced on trim tabs, engine sprayed downnwith Boeshield. Up next, water fuel separator filters, pull props and grease shafts.
In April I will apply Awlcare polymer sealant before hauling her over for a fresh coat of white bottom paint.

Poppet valves are very DIY. Just a tad more difficult than tstats. Have you never replaced your poppet valves in 1200hrs?

Ok I'll bite. What's a poppet valve and how do you replace one? And better yet, how do you know you need to do so? Just to keep finatic thinking we love him and all. C'mon gang, show the love😁

Great I just gave Glen something else to do! LMAO! Poppet valves regulate water flow/engine cooling at low idle speed. Tstats cover that function at higher RPMs. If you throw a high temp alarm at idle speed chances are it's a bad poppet valve - think slow speed trolling. If you throw a high temp alarm at higher RPMs/planning speeda chances are it's you tstat not opening OR could also be seaweed plugging up your pick up. Poppet valves are one of those recommended regular maintenance items. They work until they don't. Think being 125 miles away from port and your engine throws a high temp alarm while chunking for tuna and the long haul back at 10 knots. I usually replace them every 3 yrs or so and I carry a spare in my toolbox along with a spare tstat. I've actually had a new tstat fail the same season it was replaced. I pulled/replaced it, dropped the bad tstat in boiling water to test it and it did not open the entire way which is what caused the high temp alarm. For that reason I always care spares.

Effing dead beats only post to gather information when a problem slaps their kisser. When I can get to the boat I plan to do the yearly maintenance and replace the thrust washer spacer. Under torqued it once and it needs replacing. I thought it was too much torque to go to the next cotter key slot...my mistake. Anyway, I should be able to get in a few hours here and there to get caught up, but still a lot on my plate right now.

I know, I haven't even bought the anodes yet and now I need some poppet valves too. I bet the framulator screw and maybe a knudson nut for the boat brakes are going to be next on my list to buy.
