The boat went in on Saturday. We had great weather, but I was only able to get about an hour in. We had other commitments the whole weekend. Next Friday will be the first fluke trip!

What is this fluke you speak of? They are apparently extinct here in NC….

Haha. Fluke is one of the few fish that I can actually find and catch. I've even pulled some up in our crab traps.

Took care of a few little things today... First thing I did was replace the droopy, stretched out cargo netting under the gunwale with one that actually has a useful pocket. Bought the nets here... You get 4 so you'll have spares. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0B9ZFDZNJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_titleThen I replaced all of the under gunwale rod holders grommets with white, something I've been talking about doing for a while. I really like how clean it looks and no worries about wax getting on the black grommets now. They do show dirt but think it'll clean up nice. I also installed new rod holder bungee cord, mine was all stretched out and nasty looking. I was thinking about how to best do it, then I was watching the fishing show Into the Blue last weekend and noticed on their Yellowfin they have the same holder and their bungee was tied like this. It actually holds the rods in place better this way when tied with some tension.

Caught our first fluke this year. Just one. It was about 18 1/4. Sorry no pics (Does the rule apply 'no pics, no fish'?)

You made me lookup the difference in Summer Flounder and fluke...there is none. However, there are also Winter Flounder which I didn't even know about before. Here we don't catch flounder until the water warms up a bit more (currently surface temp is 65 at the mouth of Chesapeake Bay).

They're a strange bunch up north! They call flounder fluke and rockfish bass.

The fluke are moving into the bay because it is warmer right now. I had been hearing talk around town that people were catching them in the bay near the inlet.
And a map:
hookedup , Great article. So the difference between a summer flounder and a winter flounder is one goes one way, and the other goes the other way. Reminds me of Goodfellas:

If you catch one in NC you have to throw it back….
