Can't say I'm to disappointed in my $400 cover it lasted 9 yrs and saved me thousands in shrink wrap costs. Kinda looks like shit on my boat since it's ill-fitting and doesn't quite cover the hull sides but got the job done keeping shit out of my boat during the winter lay up. It's survived some snow too. It was pretty light weight but still kind of a bitch to put on over my radar, antennas and outrigger bases.
Guess I'm due to pony up!

Hell no who give a crap how it looks sounds like it's still doing a good job. Agree - I bought one two years ago, I forget the name of the guy, but I'm grateful. It's a heavy tyvek material of some sort... very heavy, not like the think fabrics I see on other boats. Anyway, it was a good idea when I got it, and now shrink wrap has pretty much doubled in cost, so it's a *great* deal.... Already paid for itself two times over.

I've worked my ass off compounding with a makita polisher the last 2 years, this year I'm springing for a local detailer to come in and wet sand, compound and polish my hull and he threw in the topsides as well. Hopefully that gets it back to a good, layer that won't dry out by August.... Once I'm in for the season, that's pretty much it for hull care... unless someone has a suggestion for mid-season refresh?

I love the look but for me a white boat is the way to go.

Having owned a dark hull for 8 yrs before throwing in the towel and painting it and my gelcoat was still in great shape, just got tired of the upkeep. A wet sand will will last longer but it's no silver bullet. The gelcoat will will begin to chalk again esp if you're not hauling it out once or twice a year to stay on top of it - maintenance polish/wax.

I used to feel pretty good about getting a gallon for under $150. Geez, that stuff is expensive! Hope it works well enough to make it worthwhile. Would love to see a finished photo of the paint job and a full report at the end of the season on how well it works.

I read that WM brand is made by one of the other big brands, forgot which one. For me, it's all about the white baby, not too many options in true white. I HATE bottom paint.

If it looks as good as their Vivid I expect it will look great when it's done, the test being i should barely notice it. The question will be, how will it look when I haul it out in July when we head to NC. Ill post a photo when she's done.

I didn't even know this was a thing until last week. I took my boat to a detailer for a ceramic coating, went to pick it up, and the bottom was painted, with a clear bottom paint. He made a mistake and painted the wrong boat. Some product called Hull Maxx. When he realized his error he nearly $hit himself. 2 gallons at $900 per his cost!. He said, ok my mistake I can remove it, but it's going to take a day or two, I need to get special chemicals etc. I felt bad for the guy, and since it is barely noticeable I told him don't worry about removal. I keep my boat on a trailer at all times, only time it has spent overnight in water was when I need some trailer work done, so it is of no real benefit to me. He charges $200 per foot to apply it, so my 245 DC would have been $5 grand. Initially I was going to pay his cost for material, but no way I was eating $1800, there are supposedly some benefits in speed/fuel consumption, I did give him an extra $600 to at least help him with some of the bite.
Crazy thing about this stuff is, it is not designed to inhibit growth in any way, but it makes it easy to remove growth with a rag, he said if you get real big barnacles, pressure wash it first then wipe with a rag. If I was keeping my boat in the water I don't think this would interest me at all.
Bring the boat home, launch it and use it once, when I get home, I notice a strip about 6 inches long and 1/2 inch wide hanging off. Took a picture called the guy, he said he'd come fix it. He came today, we discussed it, I basically said look, it's not really noticeable and if it all falls off over time i don't really care, but no way I'm paying $600 bucks for something i didn't want, don't need, and is coming off after 2 hours in the water. he agreed and is supposed to bring me a refund Monday.
If I was painting my bottom ever, I'd just try and find whatever color best matches my hull, province blue all the way to the keel, and that would be it.

Hullmax is crazy expensive and I've read very mixed reviews. As much as I hate bottom paint those reviews alone would keep me from forking over the $'s to experiment.
I'm not sure if I'd be pissed in your shoes or not. I guess if you can't see it no big deal. He lost his shorts on that job for sure!

Yeah, He seems like a decent guy who just made a mistake, so I'm trying to not rub salt in his wound because I know he took a beating already, but I'm trying to figure out how big of a market is there for something that doesn't inhibit growth but makes it easy to clean and cost 5 times more than conventional bottom paint. And for God's sake, please don't anyone tell your congressmen about this, they'll get a piece of the company, triple the price, and outlaw anti-fouling paint.....
